Animal Crossing: Wild World Event Guide

It really is a Wild World! During the year, your town holds a variety of events and festivals that you and your villager can participate in. Attendance at these events is not only fun, but can usually net you goodies from Tortimer the Mayor. Thus, you should always make an effort to show up when your town is holding an event. Below is a listing of events.

La-Di-Day Day: Saturday Frequency: Second Saturday, odd-numbered months only Hours: All Day

Put on your singing boots! Today, town is buzzing with music and the neighbors have singing fever. Everyone is trying to come up with a new town tune, and it's up to you to choose a winner (or not). Spend some time today walking around town and make sure to talk to all of the villagers to listen to their tunes. Some are shy, so you'll have to talk to them more than once before their stage fright disappears. Don't like the song? Just choose "That won't do." However, if you love the song choose "You're hired!" The song will instantly become your town tune. But what if you talk to Limberg and decide that his song is better than Bluebear's? Just hire Limberg before the end of the day and his song will replace Bluebear's.

Flea Market Day Day: Saturday Frequency: First Saturday, every month except January and August Hours: All Day

Don't leave home without a pocketful of bells! It's Flea Market Day, a day when you can visit your neighbors' homes and try to woo their furniture away from them at rock-bottom prices! Don't get too excited when you enter a neighbor's house though, not all of the character's furniture will be for sale. Some neighbors may even choose not to sell anything (those greedy animals). However, today is still a great day to con….erm…..persuade neighbors to part with their possessions at bargain-basement prices!

Fishing Tourney Day: Sunday Frequency: Third Sunday--January, March, May, November, and December; Fourth Sunday--February, April, and October Hours: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Well, now, take down your fishin' pole and meet me at the fishin' hole. Today is the fishing tourney! Grab your fishing pole and spend the morning practicing your angling, as the competition between you and your neighbors is cutthroat. Don't have a fishing pole? No problem! Tortimer will gladly lend you his old one. Don't forget to turn fish in all day; you can turn more than one in! Catch the largest fish you can and return it to Tortimer by 6:00 PM. Any fish that you turn in that beats your previous record will net you a piece of furniture as a gift from Tortimer. If you beat your villagers and submit the biggest fish of the entire day, you receive the fish trophy in the mail the next day, with the congratulatory letter written on the rare Formal Paper! Make sure to check the bulletin board as well to see your name up in lights.

Below is a table to use as a guide for average fish sizes. For example, if Mitzi caught a Popeyed Goldfish and submitted it to Tortimer for the fishing tourney, a quick look at this guide will let you know that you should submit the Killifish you caught, since it is (on average) larger than the Popeyed Goldfish. Yay Day Day: Sunday Frequency: Fourth Sunday, every other month Hours: All Day

Has your self-esteem taken a plunge? If so, make sure to venture out into the village on Yay Day. Today, everyone's grouchiness (yes, even Cyrano's!) seems to be gone, and happiness fills the town. Talk to a villager to be treated to a compliment. Don't forget, though, that the villager will expect a compliment in return. For best results, try to tailor the compliment to match the personality of the villager. For example, try telling an animal with the "jock" personality how big his muscles are. Don't know what type of personality your neighbors have? You can always check the character guide on AXA! Later in the day, don't forget to talk to the villagers you complimented. They'll ask if you really meant what you said before, and if you say yes your friendship will be improved!

Bright Nights Day: All Week Frequency: Second week of February Hours: After Dark

You may think you've stepped out into a sprawling metropolitan street while walking about your neighborhood this week. Don't worry though, town hasn't been moved without your knowledge…it's just decorated for Bright Nights! In accordance with Bright Lights tradition, villagers decorate their houses with (what else?) bright lights. In recent years, however, villagers have become so competitive that a competition has evolved. And this year, you're the judge! Walk around nightly to check out the spectacle and then visit the Town Hall to let Tortimer know whose house you think is best. Make sure to notify the winner as well! Some extremely ecstatic winners have been known to give gifts to the judge as thanks.

Flower Fest Day: All Week Frequency: Second week, April only Hours: All Day

Have a green thumb? If not, borrow one from a friend because the Flower Fest is here! Tortimer has informed the townsfolk that everyone has a week to grow a flower garden around their home. Tortimer will even throw in a bag of flowers to get you started. What a swell tortoise! Of course, with your villagers being ultra competitive, you have to out-garden them to snag first place. Your garden is judged on originality and style, so don't expect to win by having a few rows of roses. Spice it up with some pansies, tulips and cosmos' as well! Have hybrids? Don't hold back if you do, add them in with the rest of the flowers! Now, as any good gardener knows, you must keep your flowers well-watered for them to last until judging time. Also, make sure to remind yourself (and any visitors) not to run through your garden! If Tortimer judges your garden to be the best of the bunch, you'll receive the flower trophy!

Fireworks Show Day: Saturday Frequency: August only Hours: 7:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Look up! Fireworks are firing and everyone in town is out enjoying the show. Head up to the civic center and talk to Mayor Tortimer. He'll give you either a sparkler or a Roman candle. Don't be afraid to use whichever one you get, because he always has more! And never fear; you will get some of both because what he gives you is random. Make sure to note the new, jaunty town tune as well! What a fitting song for such a fun occasion. (Also, if you turn your game on between 7:00 PM and 12:00 AM, you'll see fireworks on the title screen!)

Acorn Festival Day: All Week Frequency: Second week, October only Hours: All Day

Who is Cornimer? Some consider him to be the king of the Acorn Festival, some say he's the mayor in disguise, and some think he's a relative of the mayor. No matter who he is, he gifts you items for acorns. Look under your normal non-fruit trees for acorns, and then take them to Cornimer, who is standing in the Town Hall plaza. As you bring him acorns, he will begin giving you items from the Mush set. If you get rotten acorns, take them as well! Cornimer will buy them for a fortune-building one Bell apiece. Once you receive all pieces of the Mush set, Cornimer will stop collecting acorns. You may ask, "What can I do with the rest of the acorns I find?" Sell them to Tom Nook for a tidy profit of 100 Bells per acorn.

New Year's Eve Countdown Day: Varies by year Frequency: Dec. 31 - Jan. 1 Hours: All Day

Tortimer's back on the plaza, which can only mean one thing….there's ONE more special event before the New Year arrives! What is it? The New Year's Eve Countdown, of course! Talk to Tortimer during the day to receive party poppers. Feel free to pop some if you wish, Tortimer has an infinite supply! Then, during the evening, head to the Town Hall to see some neighbors gathered in anticipation of the big moment. As the countdown clock winds down, enjoy the festivities and pop some poppers! Make sure to watch the top screen once the countdown is over! Happy New Year!
